About

I analyze, develop, and apply multimodal AI to the study of media, drawing on Computational and Digital Humanities, American Studies, Media Studies, Public Humanities, and Data Science. I am committed to interdisciplinary, collaborative, and open access scholarship, and my research takes multimodal forms including articles, books, data, exhibitions, public humanities projects, and software. I am the inaugural Director of the Center for Liberal Arts and AI (CLAAI), which works with 17 liberal arts colleges in the Associated Colleges of the South to build capacity for AI teaching and research. I served as President of the national and international DH scholarly associations: the Association for Computers and the Humanities (ACH) and the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO). I earned my PhD in American Studies from Yale University.
